About Tocoin

Our story started in the United States.

In 1991, a Brazilian Army sergeant on a mission in the U.S. received his first challenge coins. In 2014, he and his son turned that tradition into Brazil’s leading challenge coin company. Now we’re bringing it back where it started.

Our story

It started with two coins

1991 · A gift from the U.S. military. Sgt. Lima, of the Brazilian Army, was sent on a mission to the United States as an assistant to the military attaché. Wherever he went, he was honored with challenge coins, a tradition he had never seen in all his years in the Brazilian Army. He brought every one of them home to his son, Bruno, who kept them all.

2014 · Two coins on a curb. Years later, Bruno was running a design and advertising agency. He designed two coins: one for the agency, and one for the Brazilian Army, designed with his father’s guidance and funded by his father. When the boxes arrived, the two of them sat on the curb outside the post office and opened them right there.

Neither had ever seen that level of detail in anything made in Brazil. That day, Tocoin was born. Today, the story of those two coins is how we tell every new team member where Tocoin began.

“When we saw it in our hands, with all that detail, we knew for sure this was what we wanted to do.”

A note from our founder

My father brought challenge coins home from the United States when I was young. I never imagined that, years later, they would become our life’s work.

In Brazil, we built Tocoin one coin at a time, with care, honesty and respect for every unit and every company that trusted us with its story. Now we’re bringing that same work to the country where this tradition was born.

We know you’re trusting us with something that matters. We’ll treat it that way.
